Mr. Me Too
•December 2, 2009 • Leave a CommentEA has gone and done it. I’m officially convinced they are no longer an elite publisher and instead can only survive off of rehashes and copying popular video games that have sold well. Don’t just think I’m popping off at the mouth here.
1. EA’s upcoming 3rd person action “Dante’s Inferno” is a clone of Sony’s “God of War” franchise. Right down to the quicktime event finishing moves and modification of traditional mythology.
2. EA Sports’s new MMA fighting game, titled “MMA” is also on the way in order to compete with THQ’s “UFC:Undisputed.” This will be especially hard challenge as they cannot use the UFC license. Instead, they have bought the rights to the Strikeforce MMA league. A niche league with great fighters, but casual gamers probably aren’t even aware of.
3. And finally, EA is now bringing back their WW2 first person shooter “Medal of Honor” and bringing into modern times. Oh man where have I heard that before?
(via GiantBomb.com) “…this new game will take things into a more modern setting. The game will be set in Afghanistan and will focus on the life and missions of the “Tier 1 Operator.” The official information paints this guy as “today’s most elite American soldier.”
We’ll see what happens with this one, but on the plus side, that’s a sweet effing beard.
Oh The Times, They Are A Changing (but i’ll never stop blogging)
•December 2, 2009 • Leave a CommentNow last week was Turkey week, so I apologize for not updating the blog, but I’m sure you’d be happy for me if you knew what I was up to. Exciting times. I’m back now and things are going to be different around here.
With my college’s winter break coming soon, and a new job in the mist, I won’t be able to post up to the date news as usual. Instead, I’ll be collecting what I consider the most interesting gaming news and posting my thoughts, with an open forum for you guys to discuss as well(isn’t that what a blog is in the first place?).
So until then, look forward to my last piece. My college’s Game of the Year. It’s going to be a bit kooky.
Until next time world.
Why Do We Bother With Game Award Shows? (rant alert)
•November 18, 2009 • Leave a Comment
It’s almost that time as the year winds down. It’s time to see which video games were the ‘best of the year’ with Spike TV’s Video Game Awards.
Now, I understand for the casual gamer, these award shows are great fodder for the biggest games this year(more like with the biggest marketing budget) and very entertaining…I guess. But for people serious about gaming, the games nominated/games omitted for certain categories are a joke. One big reason? The timing.
The award show has done itself and average video game consumers a great disservice by airing during the holiday season. This leads to nominations of games that are hardly released yet. (eg Left for Dead 2 nominated for game of the year. It was released yesterday. How does that add up?)
I personally feel that review scores and metacritic do not make a game worthy of nomination status. The group behind the VGAs should watch each game closely, play it themselves, and follow the community for at least a year. A little tedious I know, but it would bring so much credibility to the gaming world.
From the past award shows, I feel the VGAs could be compared to the adult video awards. That’s not fair, when our medium has revolutionized entertainment, and now big hollywood studios come to us for movie ideas.
In the end, I would love to make two changes to VGAs: 1. a stricter, more in-depth nomination process. 2. Change the date to June.
GTA:TBoGT Video Review
•November 13, 2009 • Leave a CommentThe blog’s first video review. Took me long enough I know. Is Ballad of Gay Tony the game for you? Probably. Trust me, I know these things.
Modern Warfare 2, New Mulitplayer Footage + a Surprise
•November 4, 2009 • Leave a CommentYep, it’s almost time for this potential BEAST of a game to be released. And as a special treat, I found some great multiplayer footage you can enjoy. It really shows the pacing of the Search and Destroy game mode, and all the new HUD elements.
Also, there’s a new part of the game that only small circles know about
FREAKING 3RD PERSON PERSPECTIVE. Take a look.
Now before we(well really you) jump to conclusions, The third person mode cannot be toggled at anytime. The 3rd person mode is restricted to private online matches and offline split screen matches. The different camera angle gives the game a great look. One of my favorite things about CoD 4 was the 3rd Person mode when spectating matches.
*Did you notice that the crosshairs are above the character’s head instead of the middle of the screen? That’s because in CoD, even though the bullets in the game appear to come from a player’s gun, they are actually coming from the player’s head. Random trivia.
Video Review of GTA:Ballad of Gay Tony(coming soon)

So I received 1600MSP the other day and now I wait, and I wait, and I wait, and I try not to spend those points on my avatar’s clothes(I’m addicted sorry). On October 29th, I’ll download the DLC and bring you an exclusive Video Review of the game.
So until then, let me introduce you to the man you’ll be playing as in BoGT, Luis Lopez.
Don’t Sniff Cats. Don’t!
•October 23, 2009 • Leave a CommentSo Rockstar Games new DLC for Grand Theft Auto 4, The Ballad of Gay Tony, is set to be released this Thursday (10/29). If you haven’t been keeping up, the main setting for this game will be the Liberty City night life. A new, stylish trailer shows off the clubs as well as some cool minigames players might be able to play.
Also, want to see gameplay from the highest rated PSP game according Gamespot? …..Huh…..what…..of course you do!
Uncharted 2. Maybe you should buy it.
•October 14, 2009 • Leave a Comment
Why? Well because it’s the highest rated PS3 game since…..nope, it’s the highest rated PS3 game. According to Metacritic the overall rating for the game is at 97 based on written reviews by hundreds(more like 56) of gaming publishers. And a user score of 9.7 based on consumer votes.
But if you’re here, that means you can’t trust metacritic, and you think the general consumer is keeping dumb franchies alive (Naruto, Dragonball, and Gundam games still sell? What a world).
So take MY word for it. In a few days I’ll have my own video review on the site. I’m sure the game is great, but let’s just make sure.
Until then, the game had me thinking, what is your favorite PS3 game?

Kobe now with more skill h4x
It’s October and in the videogame world that means basketball season! Tuesday, the reigning basketball franchise released the highly anticipated, but hardly talked about NBA 2K10. I’ll be giving you full coverage after the jump.
For now, we’re going to get reactions on the ground level about 2K10′s new My Player feature, where you can create a player from the GROUND up and increase his skill to get him drafted. You’ll bounce all around the NBA and try to reach milestones and gain experience points in summer leagues, camps, and even the NBDL if your player fails to excel.
Lamar Marcus (24) and Derek Willis (22) are two die hard fans of the 2K franchise. “We’ve been playing since Dreamcast when Iverson was on the cover every year,” says an excited Derek.
Q. What’s your favorite part about the My Player mode?
LM: The depth. You can even choose how you bend your wrist when you shoot. My guy has my actual clutch. It’s crazy.
DW: I love that the mode is focused on me. I don’t have to worry about the whole roster and managing the cap. If I do well, things will fall in place. I would guess that’s how it is in real life.
Q: Anything you don’t like?
DW:The grading system is very sensitive. I get open off of a screen, call for a screen, and it counts negative against my player grade. Like really?
Q: Any interesting moments happen to your character yet?
LM: Well I was drafted to the Nets in the second round. Cool. But I never got off the bench and was released. I’m working out with the Indiana Pacers.
Q: How do you feel about the milestones in the game?
DW: They’re daunting. Like some of them look impossible.
LM: Yeah there are a lot of milestones you wont get on your first try. Rookie of the Year? For me? Yeah right. But it makes me want to play more.
Q: Anything else you want to add?
DW LM:(At this point, they excitedly talked ad nauseum about how much time they’re going to sink into this game)
